Increase in private tuition

A report published this week reveals that one in four children at state secondary schools has private tuition.  Many parents are choosing to spend money on giving their youngsters extra help with their lessons.

There are many reasons why this is happening – in London there is a lot of competition to get into the best schools and indeed the research shows that better-off families are more likely to consider private tuition compared to those from poorer homes.

In a poll carried out by Ipsos MORI, over 2500 pupils of secondary school age were surveyed.  Almost a quarter of these had received private tuition, up slightly from last year, which had already increased since 2005.

Whether a pupil needs help to get into the school of their choice, or feels they are behind in their subject, or perhaps wants to develop a natural gift they have outside the classroom, there is no doubt that one-to-one attention can benefit them greatly.

If you are considering this option for your child, why not give me a call for a chat?  Whether one or two sessions are required in preparation for an exam or whether you are looking for some regular help with French, German, Spanish, Italian or English, I would love to hear from you.
