MFL Exam Season

Exam season is well and truly upon us.  For those studying a language, the oral has taken place by now.  Different exam boards offer different variations on what is required – some students have to prepare a presentation in the foreign language, others answer questions in the exam, although they get a few minutes’ preparation time.

Listening, reading and writing are the other skills tested and these often happen on the same day.  In a few weeks’ time, this will have taken place for GCSE, AS and A2 students.

At GCSE typical topics studied can be: healthy lifestyle, the world around us, school and future plans, free time and entertainment etc…

At AS level topics include: television and advertising, technology and communication, cinema, fashion trends etc. and at A2 you can study integration, immigration and racism; environmental issues; ethical issues, and a couple of cultural topics, which really allow you a greater insight into the world of the country/countries whose language you are studying.

If you are in year 10, maybe you are beginning to look ahead at what subjects you might consider studying for A level.  If you are enjoying French, German or Spanish, why not consider continuing at a higher level?  Not only will you get more out of your future holidays, you will greatly improve your career prospects, as being able to add a language to your CV is very beneficial.

If you are struggling with revision, wondering about the future, or want to take up a language you didn’t have the chance to learn previously, I would love to hear from you on 01603 260869.
